Ausangate High Route
The greatest indigenous pilgrimage in the Americas, the Corpus Christi festival in Cusco, and 8 days at high altitude in the Ausangate - Carabaya mountain range, with passes between 4,900 and 5,300 m. The most beautiful expedition one can undertake in the Peruvian Andes. An exclusive Terralba journey.
The trip in brief
There are journeys that take you to see things. This one makes you experience things you didn't know were still possible to experience. We built this journey around a simple conviction: the Peruvian Andes cannot be understood from an archaeological site or a museum hall. They are understood in the night of Qoylluriti, amidst tens of thousands of Quechua pilgrims walking towards the glaciers under the full moon. They are understood at 5,000 meters of altitude, alone facing the Ausangate glaciers, in a silence that the gods seem to have placed there for centuries. They are understood in the fervor of Cusco's Corpus Christi and in the brilliance of Inti Raymi on the terraces of Sacsayhuamán. This journey exists only once a year. It demands physical commitment and an open mind. In return, it offers what few travelers will ever have the opportunity to traverse — the living, beating, sacred heart of the Andes.
