A private passage from ancient highlands to deep rainforest
Description A journey through two of Peru's defining worlds: the high Andes and the Amazon rainforest. Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu are followed by several days immersed in the forests of Tambopata, creating a journey of remarkable ecological and cultural contrast. The first chapter explores Andean knowledge, architecture and living traditions; the final chapter shifts into tropical forest, wildlife and natural history. Accommodation Boutique hotels, garden retreats and rainforest lodges chosen for character, setting and personal service. The journey moves naturally from historic Andean houses and valley retreats into a small lodge surrounded by tropical forest, maintaining comfort while allowing each landscape to remain central to the experience.

Arrival in Lima and private transfer to Barranco. Settle into Hotel B and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure after the international journey.

Fly to Cusco and transfer to Antigua Casona San Blas. The day remains deliberately light for acclimatization and a first introduction to the former Inca capital. Suggested visits include the Qorikancha, the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art and San Pedro Market, with time to enjoy Cusco at your own pace.

Travel to Chinchero for a private introduction to Andean textile traditions, natural dyes, fibers and symbolism still transmitted through generations. Continue across the high plateau to Moray and its remarkable concentric agricultural terraces. Lunch at MIL Centro, where Virgilio Martinez and his team explore the biodiversity and food traditions of this same Andean ecosystem. After lunch, visit the salt pans of Maras before descending into the Sacred Valley.

A relaxed morning in the Sacred Valley before travelling to Ollantaytambo and boarding the train toward Machu Picchu Pueblo. After settling into the hotel, travel by bus to Machu Picchu for a first afternoon visit, when the rhythm of the site begins to slow and the light softens over the surrounding mountains.

Return to Machu Picchu from opening time for a more complete exploration with a private guide. The second entrance includes Huayna Picchu, subject to ticket availability. After the visit, return to Machu Picchu Pueblo for lunch and take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Explore the living Inca town and archaeological complex before continuing through the Sacred Valley.

Enjoy a leisurely morning or a private ride on Peruvian Paso horses. Continue through Urubamba and Yucay to explore the local market, monumental Inca terraces and irrigation systems. The colonial church of Yucay is specially opened for the visit. Lunch at Hacienda Huayoccari in a traditional family setting before continuing to the lodge. After dark, meet an astronomer for a private ethnoastronomy experience using high-precision observation equipment, combining the southern sky with Andean interpretations of the cosmos.

Begin slowly at the lodge before visiting a flower-growing farm in the Sacred Valley. Continue to a nearby village, where lunch is prepared by a local family and served on their terrace beneath an old tree. Later, visit the Inkariy Museum and reach Pisac around 3:00 pm, during one of the quieter periods of the day, before returning to Cusco.

A full day to enjoy Cusco according to personal interests: museums, galleries, fine crafts, contemporary design, gastronomy, or simply walking through the historic center. We recommend that you go to Sacsayhuamán (we can arrange a specialized guide for you) and, from there, walk down an ancient Incan path and small streets to get back to the historic center of the city. Private visits and restaurant reservations can be arranged on request.

Fly from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado. On arrival, continue by road and boat into the rainforest to Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion. Settle into the lodge and take a first guided walk in the surrounding forest, introducing the extraordinary biodiversity of the Tambopata region.

Explore the rainforest with a naturalist guide. Depending on conditions and wildlife activity, the day may include forest trails, canopy observation, oxbow lakes or navigation through the surrounding ecosystem. The emphasis is on interpretation and observation rather than rushing through a checklist of activities.

A second full day to explore different forest habitats at an unhurried pace. The program remains flexible, allowing the guide to adapt excursions to weather, wildlife activity and personal interests.

Return by boat and road to Puerto Maldonado Airport and fly to Lima for the onward international connection. This is the end of your trip to Peru. We hope you go back home transformed and with wonderful memories.
